London
Transport - There are many ways to get around
the London area. There are budget airlines that fly
to different locations in the area if that is the
way you prefer to travel and there are coaches and
buses that operate throughout the country as well.
There is a rail system as well as a cab service. You
will have a lot of options for getting around London
and England.
London has a very large Rail Network
and it is split into four sections: Mainline, Underground
(known as the 'Tube'), Tramlink and Docklands Light
Rail. This is a very efficient and inexpensive way
to get around the city.
In England, long-distance buses are usually called
coaches, and in towns there are separate bus and coach
stations. Coaches are more expensive (though quicker)
than buses. Always check with the Tourist
Information Centre (TIC) before planning
your activities because the buses have different time
schedules.
If you're going to drive yourself it is very difficult
to find parking in London and the fines are very high.
Be very careful if you plan to travel this way. If
at all possible, try to find another means of getting
around the city to avoid getting a huge fine.
The Channel Tunnel has made travel
between England and continental Europe faster with
two different services: The Eurostar
(or Le Shuttle) is set up for walk-on passengers,
and then there is the Eurotunnel for
people with vehicles. You can get to England from
mainland Europe by bus and ferry. The buses are slower
and they are cheaper.
You will enjoy your stay in the London Area
knowing that there are many different ways to get
around. Plan your trip accordingly and always practice
safe measures while traveling. Don’t go alone
at night and be careful and cautious as you visit
the different places. Always try to stay around other
people in lighted areas and you should be safe from
any foul play.
